Emerging Artists Program
Definition of Emerging Artist: An emerging artist is someone who’s in the early stage of their career, someone who’s caught the eye of an art critic and/or gallery, but hasn’t yet established a solid reputation as an artist amongst art critics, art buyers, and art galleries.
An artist who has specialized training in his or her field (not necessarily gained in an academic institution), who is at the beginning of his or her career, and who has created a modest independent body of work. (reference – bmoreart.com)
Paper Birch Landing shows support for artists who are in the first few years of their career or who have been in their career for a few years but are searching to learn more and advance within the arts. These artists show significant potential and the drive to go further within their career. We look at a body of artwork and do not judge an artist based on professional training or age. We provide a place for an artist to begin to show or to continue showing while gaining skills in different areas.
At Paper Birch, we show mid career level artists as well and they work hand in hand with our emerging and up and coming artists.
We believe that we are stronger together and that every artist can pursue their dreams. While at the same time, championing a hard working attitude and continuing education for artists of all skill levels. Paper Birch artists are not exclusive to us, in fact we push artists to show at other galleries, festivals and venues in Kansas City and across the nation. We feel that when we all work together in the arts, big dreams come true.
We offer showing opportunities through group shows, juried shows and off site location shows. We also offer career consultations, artist management, on going artist education classes and more!
